The 2 posts have become available following a retirement and a further post to help support the increasing demand for cross sectional imaging. An interest in urological, neuro and head and neck imaging are desirable but other sub-specialty interests will also be considered. The posts will also support a now well-established extended day and weekend working rota (1 in 12) with appropriate time off in lieu and outsourcing of scans after 10PM.
The Trust is within the NHS South West area and provides general healthcare for the residents of Bournemouth, Christchurch, East Dorset and part of the New Forest. This is a major tourist area and during the summer months over one million holidaymakers visit Bournemouth and the locality, including substantial numbers of foreign language students. The fluctuating population, a three times greater growth than the average for England and Wales, and the high proportion of elderly present special problems for local health care.
The Royal Bournemouth Hospital is situated in Dorset. The area is of outstanding natural beauty with blue flag beaches, access to the Purbecks and the New Forest, yet still has easy access to London by rail (travel time to Waterloo 1 hour 50 minutes). Opportunity for both water and land based outdoor activities is exceptional and offers an excellent work life balance.
