Consultant in Anaesthesia (with an interest in Intensive Care Medicine)
We seek an enthusiastic and forward thinking Consultant Anaesthetist with an interest in Intensive Care Medicine. Successful applicant will be encouraged to develop a subspecialty interest.
University Hospital Ayr is a modern general hospital opened in currently has 5 Level 3 beds and 4 Level 2 beds that are collocated. The local Acute Service Review has plans to expand the surgical and medical HDU. This post will enable our department to develop the ICU rota in accordance to the GPICS standards.
The Anaesthetic Directorate provides a service covering a population of 375,000 providing acute and elective care in orthopaedics and general surgery, and an area wide service for vascular, ophthalmology and urology surgery.
We also have an extensive commitment to undergraduate teaching of medical students from University of Glasgow and international that has been awarded the William Cullen Award for teaching from the Royal College of Physicians in Edinburgh. We have a newly developed integrated teaching theatre and simulation facilities with multitude opportunities for teaching.
New Consultant Contract (Scotland) 2004 T&Cs apply, offered on a 10 PA basis, although opportunities may exist for EPAs subject to service requirements. Part-time/job share will be considered. The post will involve participation in an on-call rota with prospective cover and 15 colleagues (availability supplement 5%).
