Senior Clinical Fellow in Paediatric Respiratory Medicine

Full time or part time hours considered up to a maximum of 1.0 FTE. Requests for flexible working options will be considered (subject to business need).
Contract: Fixed term for 3 years (half time academic, half time clinical)
Salary: Clinical Academic Doctors in Training Salary Scale ST8, £47,132, with the possibility of a salary supplement of up to £20,000 per annum (pro rata if applicable).

This exciting new post is open to all clinical trainees in paediatrics at ST6 level and above with an interest in respiratory medicine. The post will be based within the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital in Brighton.
This post will be attractive for applicants keen to develop an academic career in paediatrics and will provide opportunities for developing clinical skills in paediatric respiratory medicine while gaining experience in teaching and research within an academic setting in paediatrics.
The incumbent will be supported in research, working for an MD or developing a competitive application for a research fellowship leading to a PhD. The post will also support the development and delivery of the Masters level programme in Paediatrics & support the delivery of high quality undergraduate medical teaching at the BSMS.
The clinical commitments will include working at a relatively senior level within paediatric respiratory medicine, such as managing cystic fibrosis and other respiratory patients, managing children with respiratory problems on the ward, attending, occasionally chairing, multi-disciplinary meetings in this area, and managing bronchoscopy sessions.
This is a half time academic and half time clinical post that is jointly funded by the Brighton and Sussex Medical School and the Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust.
