Emergency Department, Dr Gray’s Hospital, Elgin, North East Scotland

Life then work...

For more information about living and working in Moray, please watch the following video: https://youtube/jHFNBb3EVIQ

We are looking for a further 2 Emergency Medicine Consultants at Dr Gray’s Hospital, Elgin - a great place to live and work, between the coast of the Moray Firth and mountains of the Highlands and Cairngorm National Park.

This is an exciting development, with the Scottish Trauma Network and North Emergency Medical Retrieval Service allowing reconfiguration to operate a 1:6 rota compatible with a life outside of medicine so you can enjoy all that Moray has to offer for you.

Moray is beautiful, enjoys its own sheltered microclimate, with an excellent quality of life and superb schools. We see 25,000 patients a year.

Our nearest centres are 40 miles to the West and 60 miles to the East so we see a great mix of paediatrics, trauma and medical cases. We do our own paediatric sedation and provide critical care to patients being retrieved to ICU off site.

In short we practice the full range of EM from cradle to grave and are true generalists, with strong links to the local retrieval service.

We pride ourselves in our work and the climate we create with 40% of our FY2 doctors go on to apply for EM after working with us. Have a look at our GMC training survey which we are very proud about.

We recognise not everyone wants to be a consultant for a myriad of reasons but why should you not be remunerated for your years of ED experience at the coal face?

At Dr Gray’s we operate a flexible middle grade rota from 12 to 40 hours per week compatible with a life outside of medicine so you can enjoy all that Moray has to offer for you.

At the same time you will be coming to work in a department that has a family feel, great facilities and teaching from FRCEM examiners, and most importantly fabulous colleagues that make coming to work fun.

Have a look at our GMC training survey which we are very proud about. Thanks to a unique job plan that means the ED also covers out of hours GP & urgent care cases, we can offer an attractive salary and pension scheme for the right candidates who want to relocate to Moray

Needless to say you will get regular teaching days with other colleagues across the North of Scotland and dedicated CPD time as part of your job plan.
