Opportunities have arisen to come and work in one of the largest Teaching Hospitals in Scotland and to support the leadership of NHS Grampian Radiology Department. The Radiology Department in NHS Grampian is progressive and thriving, led by a strong and dynamic management team. Recognising the importance of Radiology within NHS Grampian, significant investment has been made to increase our workforce both in Aberdeen and Elgin.
The Radiology department in NHS Grampian can demonstrate excellent team work and strengthening links with other departments in the hospital. Supporting career development is a key component of the leadership of the Radiology Department, as is a flexible working approach. As a Major Trauma Centre there are exciting developments in the scope of work, and there is significant investment in 2019 for both workforce and capital replacement.
There are also opportunities to link to the national and regional transformation agendas and influence these strategic drivers.
Aberdeen Royal Infirmary has strong links to the University which has an outstanding and ongoing pedigree in imaging based research, for example, physically making the first human MRI imaging system which is on display in the Suttie Arts Centre. Research interests are therefore encouraged. The hospital is integral with the University Medical School on one of the largest campuses in Europe. Extensive development is ongoing and over the next few years 2 new Hospitals (Maternity and Oncology) will be completed, an Innovation Hub and additional provision of an enhanced elective care centre.
Serving the population of Moray is Dr Gray’s Hospital located in Elgin. This historic hospital, which soon celebrates its 200th year, (opened originally in 1819), underwent extensive new building and renovation in 1995-1998 to become the modern, district general hospital it is today. Dr. Gray’s is a 180-bed acute hospital which provides a full range of consultant led specialties. It offers an excellent training experience for junior doctors in a wide range of medical specialties including a 3 month general radiology training rotation for North of Scotland Deanery Radiology Specialty Registrars. The recent opening of the nearby Alexander Graham Bell Centre for Digital Health brings together the expertise in Digital Healthcare and Life Sciences within the region and across Scotland. The centre also offers training and conference facilities for NHS Grampian.
Prospective candidates are encouraged to visit the Department or to make contact with Dr R Hamdy (firstname.lastname@example.org), or Dr S Wilkie (email@example.com) who are based in Elgin, or Dr Richard Herriot (firstname.lastname@example.org) Divisional Clinical Director or Mr Paul Bachoo (email@example.com) Medical Director Acute Division, who are based in Aberdeen.
