Institute of Clinical Sciences
School of Medicine
Applications are invited from Core and Higher trainees from clinical disciplines involved in acute patient care, who are fully registered medical practitioners (with a licence to practise), are currently clinically active and who have an interest in medical education.
The posts have been designed to cover teaching within a broad range of clinical areas. You will therefore need to demonstrate knowledge and experience of a variety of clinical subjects in order to teach across a range of specialities. It will be expected that you will work with a team of academic staff to organise the implementation of the curriculum. In addition, you will play a major role in the delivery of University based teaching across the years. It is expected that you will also contribute to core School activities, such as helping with admissions and assessment.
You will also be encouraged to participate in pedagogic research projects in medical education, in line with the strategic research interests of the School and, during the course of the appointment, full time post holders will also be supported to undertake a teaching qualification.
Whilst this is an education-focussed post, if a full time successful candidate wanted to continue some clinical work, this could be discussed.
The posts are fully funded by the School of Medicine. As either an out-of-programme experience or stand-alone experience, this post can equip you in your future career to lead and inspire in medical education. You should hold a Degree in Medicine. The posts are available for 1 year, from August 2019 and represent a career development opportunity.
