Consultant Radiologist with an interest in Interventional Radiology
Applications are invited for a 6 PA post for a Consultant Interventional Radiologist to join a friendly and cohesive team of radiologists in a busy department with a strong record in teaching, training and research. The post is to fill a vacancy resulting from retirement of a colleague.
It will require a radiologist who is skilled in a wide range of interventional radiology techniques and must be able to perform arterial embolization for massive haemorrhage in a variety of clinical situations, carry out a wide range of vascular and non-vascular interventions as well as paediatric
intervention. He or she will help to provide an interventional on-call service and also join the existing radiologists in providing a comprehensive cross-sectional diagnostic radiology service.
The successful applicant will have undergone full interventional radiology (IR) training, with experience in the investigation and management of trauma, haemorrhage and peripheral vascular disease. They will work in a team with eight other Interventional Radiologists (led by Dr Raj Das) and
participate in a full-time out-of-hours IR service (approximately 1:7). The applicant would also be expected to join the existing radiologists in providing a comprehensive diagnostic radiology service with further general sessions in CT, ultrasound and/or MRI including at Queen Mary’s Hospital,
Roehampton. There may be a commitment to an evening or weekend list of either diagnostic or interventional radiology. They will actively participate in the weekly IR departmental meetings and there will be a commitment to the teaching and training of junior staff, medical students and associated professional groups.
The appointee will be expected, in collaboration with the Care Group Lead in Radiology and other radiologists in the department, to oversee and ensure the provision of high quality clinical services within the Radiology Department and to lead appropriate training and audit activity.
It is expected that applicants will have the Fellowship of the Royal College of Radiologists and a CCT in Radiology or equivalent training and experience.
