At HCA UK, we are proud to be working collaboratively with The Hatter Cardiovascular Institute and Institute of Cardiovascular Science, University College London and are delighted to announce this year we will be offering X5 Clinical Fellows a fully funded, Basic and Clinical Research Programme with salaried employment at one of our prestigious hospitals within the HCA group.
Based at The Wellington Hospital in St John’s Wood London, the UK’s largest private patient complex care hospital, our fellows will commence a programme designed for clinically qualified individuals who wish to undertake a period of basic and/or clinical cardiovascular research prior to continuation of specialist training.
The main research interests as supported by the Hatter Cardiovascular Institute relate to myocardial protection in the setting of acute myocardial infarction; neuronal protection in the setting of ischaemic stroke and myocardial protection in the setting of cardio-toxicity (cardio-oncology).
The position is funded for up to 3 years, during which time it is intended that the successful applicants may enrol for a MD (Res) or PhD.
The funded programme has been successfully secured as part of this great joint collaboration.
Clinical Fellows will be employed by HCA UK with clinical hours at The Wellington Hospital, 120 per month, 1:6 rota, which will include a combination of weekdays, weekends and bank holidays. The remainder of the time will be spent at UCL undertaking their research commitment.
- Fixed term contract up to 3 years
- Salary £45,000 per annum
- Full running cost for the proposed research in addition to covering the costs for registration for a higher degree will be covered by HCA UK.

Key medical requirements for applicants
- MBBS or equivalent
- GMC and licence to practise
- RCPS is also desirable
- Completion of FY1/FY2 and ST1 training competences or equivalent
