An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Consultant post with an interest in the new sub-specialty of Peri-operative medicine. The successful candidate will join a well established team to provide pre operative assessment, including cardio-pulmonary exercise testing and an intravenous iron service. We are now looking to expand this into a full peri-operative care service with acute pain management.
Come and join our friendly department of 22 Consultants, 14 SAS doctors, and 13 trainees in beautiful North Wales.
The post will also involve a mixture of theatre fixed & flexible weekday daytime sessions and typically 3 SPAs per week. On call commitments are to the combined General and Obstetric on call rota on a 1:9 basis. There is a separate rota for Critical Care.
Wrexham Maelor hospital provides most of the sub specialities that would be expected in a 650 bed DGH (plus the regional upper GI service), and the fixed sessions within the job could be adjusted to suit your interests. Our maternity unit has just under 3000 deliveries per year in a consultant led unit.
Living in North-East Wales provides easy access to surrounding areas of outstanding natural beauty & the Snowdonia National Park, while still being convenient for the cities of Manchester & Liverpool with their international airports. The historic Roman city of Chester is just 13 miles away, from where London can be reached in around 2 hours by train.
Responsibility for health care in Wales is devolved to the Welsh Government, therefore the post will be subject to the terms and conditions of the Welsh Consultant Contract.
