Consultant in Old Age Psychiatry
Following the retirement of the incumbent, we are looking to appoint a new Consultant in Old Age Psychiatry in the East Ayrshire Locality. Serving a population of 10 500 Older people in a mixed urban rural catchment area, you will join 7 other consultant colleagues in delivering a comprehensive mental health service for older people in NHS Ayrshire & Arran.
The post will be based at the North West Kilmarnock Area Centre with inpatient beds within Woodland View, Ayrshire Central Hospital, Irvine, with responsibility for a shared proportion of these inpatient beds. The community team is based at Rothesay House, Cumnock.
As part of the “New Models of Care for Older People and People with Complex Needs” programme which is being developed by the three Health & Social Care Partnerships and NHS Ayrshire & Arran Acute Hospitals Division, elderly mental health services will be moving towards a truly integrated care model. The aim is to become active partners with not only patients, families and carers but by developing integrated working with health & social care partners.
The New Consultant Contract (Scotland) 2004 T&Cs apply, offered on a 10 PA basis. Opportunities may exist for EPAs subject to service requirements. Part-time/job share will be considered. Participation in the out of hours rota (1:23) is essential.
Appropriately experienced applicants must have Full GMC Registration and current Licence to Practice, and be on the GMC Specialist Register, or be within 6 months of the anticipated award of CCT/CESR by the date of interview.
