The Edinburgh Cancer Centre is the regional specialist cancer centre for the South and East of Scotland with a tertiary catchment of around 2 million people. We provide a wide range of cutting-edge therapies, with state of the art equipment to deliver regional and national specialist services. Our services span a number of sites with the specialist centre based at the Western General Hospital in Edinburgh.
It’s a truly exciting to work at the Edinburgh Cancer Centre. We are rapidly expanding and transforming our services, facilities and team of specialists. A considerable number of new posts have already been filled this year. A £38m reconfiguration of the Specialist Centre is underway. New satellite units will open this year with £750k new investment staffing. New specialist therapies and services will be provided this year with further investment committed. In addition to all this, we are designing a new world class specialist cancer centre to be located on the Western General Hospital site.
The Edinburgh Cancer Centre has a well established reputation for delivering world class research in partnership with the University of Edinburgh. Our partners have committed to support us in delivering our ambition to become internationally recognised as a leading Cancer Research Centre. We are well placed to deliver this ambition. The University of Edinburgh IGMM is co-located with our specialist centre. SNBTS National Headquarters and the Edinburgh Bio-quarter are also nearby. Indeed, we are already building a rapidly expanding research programme and Clinical Academic team spanning all our specialties. New research facilities will also open within12 months.
