An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our oncology team at Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust.
The Worcestershire Oncology Centre has been open for 3 years and has recruited a diverse multi-professional oncology team with expertise from a number of centres across the UK. The service is linked with the Arden Cancer Centre at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwick in a unique partnership arrangement across the 2 counties to serve a joint population of 1.4 million. The centre in Worcester is an integral and respected part of the Trust’s Specialised Clinical Services Division (SCSD).
Worcester houses the radiotherapy hub which consists of a dedicated pre-treatment CT scanner, 3 Linacs and a superficial treatment machine. There is also space for a 4thLinac. We use state-of-the-art planning techniques and have a very dedicated and forward-thinking team of physicists, dosimetrists and radiographers. The centre is complimented by outpatient and chemotherapy clinics at the Alexandra Hospital, Redditch and the Kidderminster Treatment Centre, Kidderminster. A new outpatient and day-case chemotherapy suite fully integrated with the radiotherapy centre at Worcester is planned for the future.
We are now seeking 2 further Consultant Clinical Oncologists to expand our friendly, cohesive, enthusiastic and dynamic team. The new team will comprise of 8 wte Clinical Oncologists and 3 wte Medical Oncologists. The successful candidates will provide and develop oncology services for patients with breast, upper GI, gynaecological, head and neck cancers and colorectal. Tumour site specialisation will be open to discussion with the successful candidates, but specialist interests should include one or more of these sites.The posts are full time and contribution to the on-call rota will be expected in conjunction with the other oncologists.
Worcester is a thriving cathedral city with excellent schools and immediate access to beautiful countryside in the Malvern Hills and the county of Worcestershire, yet within easy reach of Birmingham, Bristol, Stratford-upon-Avon, the Cotswolds and Oxford.
