Airedale NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an enthusiastic individual for a full time Staff grade/ Speciality Doctor post in Community Paediatrics
This is a new post to support in addressing the increasing demands on the Community Paediatric service. The appointee will join the current team of 4 Community Paediatricians and will be based at Airedale General Hospital.
The successful candidate will join the existing acute and community paediatricians in providing an integrated Paediatric service throughout the wide geographical area covered by the Trust. There is good communication and integrated working between the Community and Acute paediatricians with the aim of providing a seamless and coordinated service for children and their families in the most convenient location for them.
The role includes the assessment and management of children with developmental delay, disability, behavioural concerns and vulnerable children within the community paediatric clinics, contribution to the autism service and the statutory roles of providing medical input to the education, health and care plan process and Initial health Assessments for Looked After Children. Multi-agency and team working is an integral part of this job.
Referrals to Community Paediatrics are received from General Practitioners, Consultant colleagues, Health Visitors, School Nurses, Therapists, Schools and professionals within children’s services (education and social care). These referrals include pre-school children with developmental problems and those likely to have special educational needs. Long term management of children with disabilities is undertaken, in collaboration with therapists, education professionals, Social care and voluntary agencies.
