Addenbrooke’s Hospital

You already know that Emergency Medicine is the most rewarding and challenging specialty and you have already proven that you’re a great emergency physician!

Now what you need is a Consultant appointment in a world class hospital with a sustainable working pattern and in a place that will provide you and your family with every opportunity to grow and develop.  Welcome to Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Trust!

You will be joining a friendly and supportive team of over 20 Consultants working on an annualised full shift rota to provide the full spectrum of Emergency Care within the Emergency Department at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (CUH). This is a busy acute hospital, a specialist tertiary referral centre and one of the best performing regional Major Trauma Centres and one of the lowest mortality ratio in the UK. You will be supported by a dynamic and highly motivated Nursing team, an inspiring cadre of training and career grade doctors, Emergency Nurse Practitioners and Advanced Care Practitioners and the full range of in-patient acute specialties.

Sub-specialist interests in Paediatric Emergency Medicine and Pre-hospital Emergency Medicine are well established and additional personal interests in academic Emergency Medicine, Critical Care, Ultrasound, Medicine for Elderly (DME), Minor Injuries, Health Service management and Medical Education can all be supported.

Your work-life balance now needs to take priority. Living in the East of England and working at Cambridge will allow you to combine your specialist clinical practice with a lifestyle that you choose – ranging from the intellectual stimulation and modern living associated with Cambridge City, Silicon Fen and the University to the semi-rural idyll of the surrounding villages. All with easy and rapid transport access to London and the Midlands.

You will be fully registered with the GMC and ideally have a CCT in Emergency Medicine or be within six months of award of CCT at the time of interview. Applications are welcomed from those unable to work full time for personal reasons or those wishing to job-share.

For further details / informal visits contact: Informal enquiries about this post should be addressed to the Secretary to Dr Adrian Boyle, Specialty Lead for Emergency Medicine and Dr Matthew Pereira, Deputy Specialty Lead for Emergency Medicine via telephone: 01223 274618.
