Applications are invited for a Macmillan supported Consultant in Clinical Oncology (Lung, Upper GI and Unknown Primary), 10 PA's. 

The applicant will join a team of 5 Clinical and Medical Oncologists in the Thoracic Oncology/Oesephago-gastric Cancer. The Thoracic Oncology unit is based between Cambridge University Hospital (CUH) and Royal Papworth Hospital (RPH) which has relocated to the Cambridge Biomedical Campus site (opening May 2019). 

Working alongside the Consultants are teams of Specialist Nurses, Clinical Trials Nurses, Dieticians and a Specialist Therapy Radiographer. The Thoracic Oncology MDT is based at RPH and patients requiring surgery are treated at RPH and those requiring radiation or systemic therapies are treated in CUH or other referring hospitals as appropriate. The Upper GI & Unknown Primary MDT and team are based at CUH. Advanced radiotherapy techniques including SABR, IMRT, VMAT and motion management are in routine use.  The unit is highly research active with a large number of patients entering interventional and non-interventional trials. 

You will be fully registered with the GMC and ideally have a CCT in Clinical Oncology or be within six months of award of CCT at the time of interview. Applications are welcomed from those unable to work full time for personal reasons or those wishing to job-share. 

The applicant must have demonstrable skills in listening, reading, writing and speaking in English that enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues, as set out in the GMC’s Good Medical Practice (2013).
