Associated University (UCL) NHS Provider Trust

Applications are invited for a whole time (10 PAs) consultant post in Cellular Pathology. This is a replacement post. The post affords the opportunity to work in the Surgical Diagnostic Service with the option to participate in the Autopsy Service for suitably qualified and experienced individuals.

The West Herts Cellular Pathology service comprises histopathology, andrology and autopsies, based at Hemel Hempstead Hospital and cytology, based at Watford. Cytology currently includes cervical screening but this is expected to cease in 2019. The successful candidate will join a team of 9 consultants and three Specialist Registrars to provide a comprehensive service to this large Trust which has undergone major reorganization of services to Hertfordshire with the main hospital base at Watford. Candidates will be expected to participate in Teaching and Training.

The Trust provides a comprehensive range of services including gynaecology, upper and lower gastrointestinal medicine and surgery, dermatology, breast surgery and urology. Major clinical services also include respiratory medicine (including EBUS and Rapid Onsite Evaluation), cardiology, endocrinology and paediatrics. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to join subspecialist teams and will complement the needs of the current team. Interest in gynaecological pathology is particularly desirable. There are also opportunities for specialisation in breast cancer pathology, dermatopathology, urology and gastroenterological pathology, although accommodation with other specialist interests may be possible.

There is beautiful countryside within Hertfordshire with excellent schools and close proximity to London.

Applicants should be in possession of the FRCPath (or equivalent), or be within 6 months of CCT date, and be on the GMC Specialist Register on the date of interview.

For informal enquiries and arrangements to visit the departments please contact Dr Tony Maddox, Consultant Histopathologist, Tel: 01923 217349 or Dr Alan Rubin, Consultant Histopathologist, Tel: 01923 217634 or 01442 287835.
