Wye Valley NHS Trust, Hereford County Hospital – Consultant Rheumatologist

Salary: £77,913 - £105,042  pa 10 Programmed Activities

We are looking for a full time Rheumatologist to join our modern, dynamic Rheumatology department in the glorious cathedral city of Hereford.

We provide a full range of rheumatology services including diagnostic ultrasound, ankylosing spondylitis and adolescent rheumatology clinics and an osteoporosis service.  The department has particular expertise in the management of ANCA associated vasculitis and early inflammatory arthritis. We have recently developed an EIA pathway tailored to a rural population. We are diversifying our workforce with selected new referrals being seen by specialist physiotherapists and significant clinical input from our dedicated team of nurses and pharmacists.

The department provides rheumatology services to Herefordshire, South Shropshire, Mid Powys and parts of Worcestershire and Gloucestershire with community hospital clinics held in Ross-on-Wye, Ledbury, Ludlow and Llandrindod Wells.

The department has an active clinical research programme, is involved in regional and national audit and the regular teaching of Birmingham undergraduate medical students.

Herefordshire provides a beautiful rural backdrop to the vibrant city of Hereford. The city has an excellent range of schools and cultural and sporting facilities. The surrounding market towns provide further opportunities for both living and entertainment with award winning cuisine in Ludlow and the world famous bookshops of Hay-on-Wye never far away.

The job plan is for 10 programmed activities divided into 7.5 direct clinical care sessions, and 2.5 supporting professional activities.  Sub-specialisation would be strongly supported and job plans can be tailored to facilitate this.
