Consultants Emergency Medicine
In January 2018, the Minister for Health announced the government’s commitment to the development of a Scottish Trauma Centre Network over a 5 year phased funding plan this network is made up of 4 Regional Major Trauma Centres based in North, East, West and South/East Scotland. The West of Scotland Major Trauma Network is a collaboration of 6 NHS Boards (Ayrshire and Arran; Dumfries and Galloway; Forth Valley; Lanarkshire; Greater Glasgow and Clyde; Highland (Argyll and Bute CHP) and the Scottish Ambulance Service.
The network will provide all aspects of trauma care, from the point of injury to rehabilitation, in the region. At the heart of the West Regional network, is the Major Trauma Centre which will be sited at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital (QEUH) in Glasgow.
In order to support this new development we are seeking to appoint 3.5 additional Consultants in Emergency Medicine who will allow us to move towards a 24/ 7 consultant presence. Candidates should have experience of working with major trauma and will work in one of the busiest Emergency Departments in the country. The department also has an active research interest and is recognised for the quality of training it delivers to all its staff.
