This is a Recruitment Pool for Fixed Term Full Time Service Medical Registrar appointments for the 2019 Registrar Mid-Year intake commencing 05 August 2019.

Position Profile: Multiple vacancies exist for Service Medical Registrars, for appointment to one of 3 Primary Employing Health Services (PEHS):

  • Fiona Stanley Hospital
  • Royal Perth Hospital
  • Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital

Registrars will rotate across departments/services within the PEHS to which the registrar is appointed, including the PEHS’ associated placement and regional sites. Registrars may also be required to rotate to one or both of the other two PEHS’.

The Service Medical Registrar provides patient assessment, management and care under the supervision of the relevant Consultants, within the context of a multi-disciplinary medical team. This role also provides teaching and support to Resident Medical Officers and Interns rotating through General Medical departments (including long stay and acute units) and various medical specialties (including but not limited to Cardiology, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, Geriatrics, Haematology, Infectious Diseases, Medical Oncology, Nephrology, Neurology, Rehabilitation, Respiratory Medicine, Rheumatology and Stroke).

Successful applicants may be allocated to any of the above departments or to leave relief.

Eligibility to Apply: Applicants must be eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia and eligible to work in Australia.  Further information can be found at www.medicalboard.gov.au/Registration.aspx and www.homeaffairs.gov.au  

Applicants must have worked for a minimum of 6 months as a registered medical practitioner in a hospital setting in Australia, New Zealand, the United States of America, United Kingdom, Ireland or Canada.  Preference for appointment will be given to practitioners who gained this experience within the last two years.
