Consultant in Infection
We are looking for 2 dynamic and enthusiastic colleagues to join our innovative fully integrated Department of Infection, currently including 9 WTE infection (ID / Microbiology / Virology) consultants. These are new substantive posts. We would be happy to accept applications from any Infection qualified applicant (i.e. anyone holding a CCT in Microbiology, Infectious Diseases / GIM, Infectious Diseases / Microbiology or Infectious Diseases / Virology, Consultant Clinical Scientist in Microbiology). The roles will vary depending on the candidate and may include clinical management of both in- and outpatient infectious diseases as well as laboratory duties, although the specific work will depend on the subspecialty interests and abilities of the successful applicant. The on-call commitment will be to the Infection on call rota only for Infectious diseases qualified applicants and will be approximately 1 in 7. Microbiology qualified candidates are not required to be on the on call rota, but this could be accommodated if requested.
Hull and East Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust provides a comprehensive range of acute services from two hospital sites, with a total of about 1300 beds. It serves a population of approximately 1.2 million, and provides a wide range of tertiary services. As a major employer in the area (approximately 8000 staff) the Trust is committed to continuous development to provide the highest possible quality of care. There are close links with the Hull York Medical School and a commitment to teaching and research is encouraged.
Already a vibrant and dynamic city, Hull’s vision is to be one of the UK’s top ten destinations for shopping, art, sport, leisure and, most importantly, living. A huge amount has already been spent on creating new shopping centres, waterfront living spaces, art studios and visitor attractions. It is no wonder that Hull was awarded the UK city of culture 2017 and within the next 5 years the city will benefit from over £250 million of investment. Outside of the city there is a diverse coastline with award winning beaches and beautiful countryside all on the doorstep. Housing is plentiful and affordable and there is a good selection of high quality schools.
