Respiratory Consultant

Respiratory Medicine Consultant with a specialist interest in either Asthma, Non-Invasive Ventilation (NIV), Sleep, ILD, Lung Cancer/Pleural or other subspecialty interest 

An exciting opportunity has arisen at the University Hospitals of North Midlands to join the team of Respiratory Consultants working at our Royal Stoke and County sites. We are looking for an individual to provide care and diagnostic services for patients presenting with Respiratory illnesses. Candidates will be provided the required training to develop expertise in their preferred fields. The successful candidate will complement the expertise of the 21 Respiratory Consultants, 10 SpRs, 2 NIHR recognised academic fellow posts, and 31 Clinical Nurse Specialists working across the speciality.

The department provides both an inpatient, outpatient and day case Sleep & Ventilation Service, Interstitial Lung Disease, Cystic Fibrosis, Asthma, Lung Cancer, Pleural Procedures and General Respiratory services across both our sites. 

The Respiratory Department’s interstitial lung disease and non-invasive ventilation and weaning services are the regional centres and are recognised for national specialised commissioning. The Respiratory Department consists of 4 Respiratory Wards with 119 inpatient beds, including a 29 bedded Acute Lung Unit with 16 NIV beds, 2 Respiratory Physiology Departments over 2 sites offering a range of lung function tests. 

A Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Respiratory and General Medicine is required.
