Southern health NHS foundation trust is seeking to recruit two inpatient consultant psychiatrists for a new adolescent low secure unit that is planned to open in autumn 2019. This new service will provide specialist inpatient care and treatment for young people with complex mental disorders in the south of the country. This service will be part of a newly established national network of adolescent low secure services.
The consultants will provide senior medical advice, support, consultancy and clinical leadership to the inpatient multidisciplinary team. Applications from those who wish to work less than full-time are welcomed. Applicants will need to have a CCD in either forensic psychiatry or child and adolescent psychiatry, and some experience of specialties would be an advantage.
The trust already provides a national medium secure service for adolescents, and inpatient general adolescent service as well as a range of other specialist forensic inpatient and community services. Successful applicants will become part of a larger established group of consultants in the specialist division of the trust.
