Consultant Neurologist South
Cumbria Partnership NHS Foundation Trust was established in 2007 and provides an integrated Community and Mental Health service to the entire county, a population of around half a million. We are seeking an experienced Locum Consultant Neurologist to fill a vacancy in South Cumbria. Your base will be in South Cumbria at the Furness General Hospital. You will be working alongside another Consultants and three Specialist Nurses, together covering Cumbria, which includes a significant part of the Lake District National Park with World Heritage Centre status. There would be opportunities to develop specialist interests in the following areas if the successful candidate wished this to happen, areas such as Multiple Sclerosis, Epilepsy, Parkinson’s or MND and Movement Disorders. We have close links with the Royal Victoria Hospital in Newcastle and the Walton Centre in Liverpool.

The service is very forward thinking. We constantly strive to improve patient and staff experience. We have a number of national research projects running and have an active audit system in place. We are also keen to embrace new technology and work closely with our colleagues in General Practice and utilise an active advice and guidance system. We are also extending this to include colleagues in the acute Trusts. We are also actively working to embrace technology that will reduce travel and improve patient follow up and general experience of the service. Job plans are regularly reviewed as a team allowing doctors the opportunity to change roles, whether these include clinical, academic, managerial or other activities. This allows everyone’s job to remain interesting, do-able and equitable, avoid burn-out and foster career development.
