Consultant Neuro Radiologist

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Consultant Neuroradiologist to join an existing team of 39 Consultants (5 Neuroradiologists) at University Hospital Plymouth NHS Trust which has been classed as ‘Outstanding’ overall as a Trust and ‘Good’ in our Outpatients and Diagnostic Services by the Care Quality Commission following a recent formal inspection of the trust.
The Trust is the regional Neuroscience Centre for Devon and Cornwall, delivering Tertiary level care and support for Neurosurgical, Neuro-oncology and Neurology patients. It is the Hyperacute Stroke centre and currently provides a weekday (Monday – Friday) mechanical thrombectomy service performed by the Interventional Neuroradiologists.
The successful candidate will be joining a teaching trust with excellent professional and academic links with the Peninsula Radiology Academy, which has a first class modern education and conference facility and Plymouth University Medical School. The trust is in a period of transformation towards 7 day working in order to achieve our stated aim of excelling at patient care and providing services which make our local communities proud and which other providers strive to emulate.
There has been financial investment into the Department within last three years to upgrade its CT, MRI, Ultrasound and Radiology with further investment planned over the next 3 years in a new Interventional suite, 3T MRI’s and a CT in the ED which commenced in the Spring of 2018. All radiologists are provided with personal office space equipped with individual PACS workstations and secretarial support.
The Department encourages flexible working and annualised job plans if candidates wish to work flexibly due to their personal circumstances. There are ample opportunities for performing advanced imaging studies including MR Spectroscopy, CT and MR Perfusion, fMRI, DTI and CSF flow studies, and other diagnostic, procedural and research interests can be accommodated. The post holder will take part in the on call rota which is currently 1:5 or less with the new appointment.
Applicants must be eligible for inclusion on the Specialist Register or be within 6 months of your expected CCT in Radiology or equivalent at the time of the interview. They must also have completed a recognised diagnostic neuroradiology fellowship or equivalent higher level training.
