Consultant Physician & Geriatrician

With opportunities to work in either of our two acute hospitals, Peterborough City or Hinchingbrooke Hospital, we are keen to hear from senior clinicians and those just starting out. You will join our dynamic and innovative team of ten consultants across our two acute hospitals.
Our aim is to support professional goals and on going personal development as we believe that we need to develop clinical leaders who will continuously drive innovation and improvement in our clinical pathways so will do our best possible to actualise the candidates objectives.
The department has a wide variety of subspecialties including movement disorders, Ortho-geriatrics, falls, acute frailty, surgical liaison, dementia and delirium and so can work with you to develop your area of special interest. In return you will be encouraged to take an active lead in new developments in our services in view of the continuing expanding scope of our work. We also work in close liaison with another five geriatricians who run the specialist Stroke services. The wider team consists of specialist nurses in Frailty, dementia & delirium, Stroke on both hospital sites. We also have Specialist registrars sited on all our wards. We actively support and participate in research with active recruitment driven by a full time specialist research nurse within the department. The Trust is in the Top 10 National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) league tables for Acute Trust in the UK - growth in research portfolio (no of studies) and Top 50 Acute trust in the UK - number of recruiting studies.
We are keen to promote flexible working to allow for a good work-life balance, this includes opportunities for candidates looking for part time roles but can also offer job plans of 10 PAs plus additional sessions, if interested in joining the acute medical take.
The post is a substantive post and therefore essential criteria include Full GMC Registration with a CCT (or proposed date for CCT within 6 months of appointment) in Geriatric Medicine. We welcome less than full time applications. Candidates must be able to demonstrate a commitment to Geriatric Medicine.
