NIHR Lecturer (Clinical) in General Surgery 

Salary to be determined with due regard to the transitional arrangements relating to the 2016 contract for doctors and dentists in training (if applicable).  Indicative scales; 2016 scale for doctors and dentists in training; £27,146 to £47,132 per annum (plus pay premia, where eligible).  Post-2009 Clinical Lecturer scale; £33,127 to £58,593 per annum.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified individuals for this post in the University Department of Molecular and Clinical Cancer Medicine, with clinical duties in General Surgery within the Digestive Diseases Care Division in the Royal Liverpool University Hospital and at other hospitals that offer General Surgery Specialist Registrar training within the Mersey Deanery.

This post provides an exciting opportunity for an individual with relevant research experience who wishes to pursue a clinical academic career in General Surgery, whilst continuing clinical training at Specialist Registrar level. Special consideration will be given to those with a lead interest in Pancreatic and/or Hepatobiliary Surgery but is open to any SpR with an interest in any Specialty within General Surgery.

You will have relevant general surgical experience at Specialist Registrar level. You will have completed or are soon to complete an MD or PhD in a relevant area (this must have been submitted as a precondition of interview and must have been formally awarded in order to take up the post) and will demonstrate outstanding potential for development as a clinical academic. The post is available from 1 April 2019 to 31 March 2023 or until CCT.
