Locum Consultant in Anaesthesia & Intensive Care Medicine
Peterborough City Hospital
North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust is currently one of the newest acute hospital trusts in England, formed on 1 April 2017. The trust runs: Peterborough City Hospital, Hinchingbrooke Hospital and Stamford & Rutland Hospital. Together they serve approximately 700,000 residents.
Peterborough City Hospital is a purpose-built, state-of-the-art hospital that opened in 2010, offering a bright and spacious working environment with a comprehensive range of clinical services. It has a 16 bedded Critical Care Unit, providing a flexible mix of level 2 and 3 bed capacity and a spacious theatre complex with 18 operating theatres.
The Anaesthetic Department provides services at Peterborough City and Stamford Hospitals (chronic pain management), with some consultants doing ad hoc lists at Hinchingbrooke.
The work undertaken by the Department includes all the surgical specialities with the exception of cardio-thoracic, major vascular and neurosurgery.
The total workload in Peterborough comprises approximately 22,000 operations per annum; there are approximately 2,700 emergency procedures carried out and over 4800 obstetric deliveries.
This is a Locum Consultant post commencing as soon as possible, to cover a temporary service gap. The post is advertised on the basis of 10 PAs. The successful applicant will make up a team of 46 consultants, including 2 MOD Consultants.
Applicants must be fully registered with the General Medical Council. Evidence of higher training in Intensive Care Medicine is essential for a combined Anaesthetic/Critical Care job plan.
Peterborough is close to the charming and varied countryside of Cambridgeshire, Northamptonshire and Rutland. It has excellent road transport links and is only a 50 minute train journey into Central London.
