Consultant Congenital Cardiac Surgeon with a Special Interest in Neonatal Surgery
Applications are invited for the post of Consultant Congenital Cardiac Surgeon with a Special Interest in Neonatal Surgery. This post is a replacement post; it is a whole time Consultant Congenital Cardiac Surgeon with a Special Interest in Neonatal Surgery.
The appointee will provide inpatient services to neonates and children with congenital heart disease, including support in intensive care and high dependency areas, as well as the wider congenital surgical programme. The appointee will contribute to the surgical, inpatient and outpatient care of all patients with congenital heart disease throughout the age spectrum including adults and support the integral, vertically integrated congenital service.
The appointee will participate in an on-call rota (1 in 4, but with 1:2 contribution to the neonatal service) covering inpatient congenital surgical activity and emergency work. The appointee will run and supervise consultant-led/delivered outpatient clinics and supervise and train junior staff allocated to the Congenital Heart Unit, including clinical fellows and specialist trainees.
The appointee will contribute to the further development of the Congenital Heart Disease research and actively participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and Clinical Governance activity.
Applicants are required to be fully registered Medical Practitioners and must be on the GMC’s Specialist Register and should have specialist registration in cardiothoracic surgery; applicants achieving CCT since 2014 should have CCT in the Sub-Specialty of Congenital Cardiac Surgery.
