Consultant Paediatric Neurologist
Applications are invited for a Consultant Paediatric Neurologist based at Birmingham Children’s Hospital. There are 2 posts being advertised. Duties will include performing regular general paediatric neurology clinics, taking part in departmental and inter-departmental meetings and sharing a 1 in 7 on-call (on-service week model) for paediatric neurology with the 6 other acute consultants in the department.
The paediatric neurology department provides tertiary level services for Birmingham and the West Midlands region. The department provides a number of specialist clinics/services including neuromuscular, neuro-metabolic, epilepsy, epilepsy surgery, ketogenic diet, vagal nerve stimulator, neuro-ophthalmology and demyelination. Birmingham Children’s Hospital is a designated Children’s Epilepsy Surgery Service centre, Multiple Sclerosis Centre and a designated Paediatric Major Trauma Centre.
The department is well supported by colleagues who provide neuromuscular services, a paediatric neurophysiology department and consultants in paediatric neurophysiology, radiology department, child psychiatry and psychology services, and a full complement of allied health professionals, junior doctors and administrative staff. We also have three neurology nurse specialists.
This post is offered on the basis of 10 Programmed Activities. Applicants are required to be on the GMC Specialist Register or within 6 months of their expected date of receipt of a CCT at the time of interview or equivalent.
