Funded by The Wellcome Trust, the University of Southampton together with the University Hospital Southampton Foundation Trust, wishes to appoint a Clinical Research Fellow. The post-holder will undertake their research within the Clinical and Experimental Sciences Academic Unit of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Southampton.

The post is intended for a clinical ophthalmologist interested in undertaking a PhD. The project will involve utilising adaptive optics to phenotype patients with age related macular degeneration and other retinal diseases. You will also be participating in a clinical study assessing the role of artificial intelligence in diagnosing age related macular degeneration. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a Wellcome Trust funded Collaborative Award in Science. You will be an ophthalmologist interested in pursuing a career as a clinician scientist with a track record of research.

We would expect this 4 year funded post to start in August 2019 and for the successful applicant to enrol for a PhD at the University of Southampton.

*Please note: successful applicants will be appointed to a different salary range (£33,127 to £45,193) if they were at ST3 on or before 2 August 2016.
