Work at Wye Valley NHS Trust

Consultant Otolaryngologist

The Wye Valley NHS Trust is supporting the expansion of ENT services with a commitment to delivering a profitable, high quality service with excellent patient satisfaction. Applications are invited for the above post to join the current consultant post holders and the supporting ENT team in providing an ENT service to the populations of Herefordshire and the Welsh Borders. We provide general and sub-specialist ENT care to a population of 250,000 based at the Hereford County Hospital with a number of community based facilities. Close working ties and a joint on call system exist with Worcestershire NHS Trust.

The post provides for 10.5 PA’s of activity, including a generous allocation of SPA to allow the successful candidate to develop themselves and bring new innovations to the department. Applicants wishing to work part-time or with special requirements will be considered.

Applicants must be on the GMC Specialist Register, or within six months of their expected CCT or equivalent certification at the time of interview.

The successful candidate would be expected to have experience in the full breadth of ENT conditions but we would strongly support the development of special interests to complement our existing team.

The City of Hereford and surrounding market towns offer a wide variety of lifestyles blending the traditional with the modern. This is a county of contrasts where walkers enjoy breath-taking views, adrenaline seekers rave about our rock faces and river rapids, and connoisseurs of fine food enthuse about the quality of our locally grown produce. Cycling, canoeing, climbing and kayaking sit neatly alongside theatres, art galleries, museums, festivals and more. There’s something for everyone. House prices compare extremely favourably with other areas of the country. There is excellent state and private education at both primary and secondary school levels, including a sixth form college voted ‘Sixth Form College of the Year’ by the Times Educational Supplement in 2016.

If you’ve ever dreamt of living in a place which brings together the convenience of living in a city with the lifestyle associated with a home in a rural idyll, Herefordshire is the place for you.

Potential applicants are strongly encouraged to visit and chat informally to our staff.  Please contact Simon Prowse, Clinical Lead, via
