Consultant in General Anaesthesia
Applications are invited for a substantive consultant posts in General Anaesthesia. The successful applicant will join a group of 33 substantive consultants within the General Anaesthesia group. The larger Anaesthetic Department of UH Bristol consists of over 86 consultants and includes those working in Critical Care, Children’s and Cardiac services.
This post will address a flexible service requirement for maxillofacial, ENT, dental, obstetrics, gynaecology, thoracic, upper & lower GI, ophthalmic, fixed lines, acute and chronic pain and pre-operative assessment. The post holder will be expected to contribute to the general on-call consultant rota (currently approximately 1:20).
UH Bristol is a split site hospital with adult general anaesthetic services provided at Bristol Royal Infirmary, Bristol Eye Hospital and St Michaels Hospital. In addition, we support ECT services at Callington Road Hospital and ambulatory anaesthesia services at the South Bristol Community Hospital.
UH Bristol is a large inner-city teaching hospital with close links to the new Southmead Hospital and the University of Bristol. There is a strong tradition of teaching in the department and we support the running of Bristol Medical Simulation Centre, based at our site.
The applicant must hold FRCA (UK) or equivalent and be within 6 months of their CCT date at the time of interview. Although there is opportunity to develop a specialist interest, we are looking for applicants who are prepared to work flexibly to ensure smooth service delivery.
