Two whole time equivalent posts are available as Consultants in Palliative
Medicine working in the palliative care service in Oxford University Hospitals
NHS Foundation Trust. Each of these posts includes an on call commitment,
which attracts a category A availability supplement. Applications from those who are unable to work full time or who wish to job share will be considered.

Sobell House is an NHS Specialist Palliative Care Service and is an integral part of Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Sobell House has served the community of Oxfordshire for over 40 years. Sobell House Hospice Charity supports the work of the Hospice and the Trust. Sobell House Hospice Charity is currently supporting a three-year project to improve care of the dying in Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust including some additional staff to deliver the project.

The successful candidates will be part of a team of five consultants (4.2 WTE), two specialty doctors (1.35 WTE) and four doctors in training (two palliative medicine, two general practice). The scope of work covered by the medical team includes clinical care in the specialist service (inpatient, outpatient including day services, community specialist team, hospital team, lymphoedema and bereavement), clinical care and leadership of end of life care across the Trust, education and research.

The Hospice is seeking a capable, enthusiastic doctor who enjoys working in a tertiary referral centre. In addition to superb clinical skills the right doctor will enjoy working as part of a dedicated team at a very exciting time in the evolution of the service.
