Public Health England’s Screening Quality Assurance Service (SQAS) wishes to appoint a Consultant in Public Health, Head of QA to join their screening service senior management team. 

SQAS is part of the Health Improvement directorate within Public Health England. Screening identifies apparently healthy people who may be at increased risk of a disease or condition, enabling earlier treatment or informed decisions. National population screening programmes are implemented in the NHS on the advice of the UK National Screening Committee (UK NSC), which makes independent, evidence-based recommendations to ministers in the 4 UK countries. PHE advises the government and the NHS so England has safe, high quality screening programmes that reflect the best available evidence and the UK NSC recommendations. PHE also develops standards and provides specific services that help the local NHS implement and run screening services consistently across the country.

As Head of Screening QA, you will provide leadership in Midlands and East for an agreed portfolio of screening programmes. You will be part of both the regional senior management team and the national senior management team. 

You will have extensive knowledge and experience in screening alongside strong leadership and management skills. You will have experience in change management and be an effective team player at a senior level.

Candidates will be expected to have or develop a regional/national specialist area complimentary to those of existing staff.
