LOCUM CONSULTANT RADIOLOGIST
Applications are invited for a Locum Consultant Radiology post at the Wye Valley NHS Trust (WVT).
A full time (10 PA) Consultant post is being advertised, this is fixed term for a year. The post is intended to be whole-time, but applications would be considered from candidates wishing for personal or domestic reasons to work part-time..
The successful candidate will join the existing establishment of 10 Consultant
Radiologists (9 full time, 1 part time) in providing a comprehensive Radiology
service to the population of Herefordshire Health District plus a catchment
population from mid Wales and referrals from parts of surrounding counties of
Shropshire, Worcestershire and Gwent (total population 230,000).
The post holder should have broad radiology experience including plain film reporting, barium studies , ultrasound, CT and MRI. Specialist training in interventional radiology is preferred as the need for radiological interventions has increased steadily over the years. The post holder is expected to take initiative in developing a safe and sustainable service and the trust would support the professional development.
The post holders will also be expected to take part in departmental audit and
clinical governance issues, provide training and education to medical and other
departmental staff as required and participate in Multi-disciplinary Team (MDT)
Wye Valley NHS Trust Hospital is a purpose built PFI acute District General
Hospital. The imaging department opened in February 2002 and has an excellent range of equipment. Carestream Health PACS/RIS offers the Trust wide image distribution solution and this has been further upgraded this year.
The job plan and proposed timetable will be organised to meet the needs of the department and will be by mutual agreement. The job plan will be for 10 programmed activities (PA’s).
Herefordshire is a mainly rural County of outstanding natural beauty. Hereford is a Cathedral City with a strong and vibrant tradition in the Arts, particularly music and is surrounded by a number of small market towns. The County enjoys good state education at junior and senior level, including a Sixth-Form College. There are a variety of good independent schools as well as Technical, Art and Agricultural Colleges.
Applicants must hold full registration with the GMC with Licence to Practice and specialist registration is desired but not mandatory.
