Applications are invited for a new consultant post in Cheltenham and Gloucester which provides a superb opportunity to join an enthusiastic and dynamic team in Diabetes and Endocrinology.

Following a successful bid through NHS England to further develop the Diabetic Footcare service and through recognition of continuing growth, an opportunity has been created to appoint a further consultant.

The post-holder will join an existing team of four consultants to support provision of a Diabetes and Endocrine service to the county of Gloucestershire.

The post will be predominantly based at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital (GRH), with full participation in cross county activities and service planning.  The post holder will join the GRH-based team in providing a Diabetes and Endocrine plus General Medical service to the west of Gloucestershire, assisted by a full Diabetes multi-disciplinary team.

They will also be part of the Acute Medical on-call rota (1 in 12 weekends currently and voluntary additional evening post-take rounds). There are two provisional job plans to show the scope of opportunities available to potential applicants.

Job share applicants are welcome. If such a person is appointed, modification of the job content will be discussed on a personal basis.

Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Trust was formed in April 2002 and became a second wave Foundation Trust in July 2004. It is formed of Gloucestershire Royal Hospital and Cheltenham General Hospital. Gloucestershire Hospital NHSFT is a large acute Trust with just over 800 in-patient beds with on-site dialysis. There is access to Endocrine surgery in the Trust with good working relationships with the surgical teams.

There is a local pituitary MDT clinic and NET MDT meeting. We have close links with the Tertiary centres in Birmingham (NET) and Bristol (Pituitary) for more complex patients. Cheltenham General Hospital is the regional Hub for vascular surgery.
