Clinical Anatomy Education Fellow
Faculty of Health and Life Sciences
Institute of Clinical Sciences
School of Medicine
Applications are invited from trainees, from any clinical discipline, who are fully registered medical practitioners (with a licence to practice), are currently clinically active, and who have an interest in teaching clinical anatomy and medical education. You will be required to undertake teaching of medical students within the Human Anatomy Resource Centre (HARC), based on the main University campus. It will be expected that you will work with a team of academic staff to further develop and enhance anatomy teaching provision for the MBCHB programme in the School of Medicine. In addition, you will contribute to core School activities such as helping with admissions, assessment and student support. You will also be encouraged to participate in pedagogic research projects in medical education, in line with the strategic research interests of the School.
Whilst this is an education focussed post, if the successful candidate wanted to continue some clinical work, this could be discussed.
The post has been designed to provide a clinical context to the teaching of anatomy in HARC. You will therefore need to demonstrate knowledge and experience of a variety of clinical subjects and how to relate these to anatomy.
The post is fully funded by the School of Medicine. As either an out-of-programme experience or stand-alone experience, this post can equip you in your future career to lead and inspire in medical education.
The post would be fixed term for one year in the first instance, but potentially subject to renewal. The post would be supported to develop as part of a team of Clinical Education Fellows within the University.
For the right candidate(s), the FTE could be negotiable to fit in around other medical commitments and to accommodate up to two successful candidates. The minimum FTE split would be 0.2 FTE on fixed days to support the HARC related teaching, dependent on the other candidate being able to work 0.8 FTE on fixed days.
The post is available from March 2019, although an earlier start date could be determined for the right candidate.
