LOCUM CONSULTANT IN HAEMATOLOGY
Applications are invited to join a dynamic team of five Consultant Haematologists delivering Level 2B care at North West Anglia NHS FT. This locum post is available for one year in the first instance.
The post holder will provide sessions at Peterborough City Hospital and Hinchingbrooke Hospital to deliver Outpatient clinics, Day Unit and Inpatient care of patients with both malignant and non-malignant haematological disorders. Duties will include offering Consultative Haematology services to other hospital clinicians and general practitioners and to provide Laboratory Haematology cover.
Haematology cancer services at Hinchingbrooke Hospital are located in the purpose built Haemato-oncology Woodlands Centre, which has outpatient and day care facilities, including the chemotherapy unit, staffed by chemotherapy trained nurses. The Woodlands Centre accommodates both haematology and oncology clinics.
On the Peterborough Hospital site, care for haematology in and out patients is provided in the Haematology/Oncology Unit. This is a purpose built centre which houses 7 out-patient clinic rooms (with near patient testing of Full Blood Counts), a day unit with 23 chairs (with scalp cooling facilities) and 3 side-rooms, a 19 bedded inpatient ward and a radiotherapy unit with three linear accelerators.
The Trust has a strong research profile and acts as the northern hub of the Cambridge University Clinical School. The Trust is one of three Trusts in the Eastern region to enjoy designated hospital status for the care of Teenage and Young Adult Cancer.
Applicants need to be registered on the GMC with a license to practice.
Employees commencing employment who require a DBS Check, or existing staff transferring to roles which require a DBS or higher level DBS than currently held, will be charged for the cost of the check (currently £50 for an Enhanced Check and £31 for a Standard Check). This payment will be deducted from your first months’ salary.
Appointment to any position is conditional on the satisfactory completion of the core NHS Employment Checks Standards. Information disclosed in your application will be checked and any offer of appointment may be withdrawn if you knowingly withhold or provide false or misleading information. In submitting an application form, you authorise the Trust to confirm any previous NHS service details via the Inter Authority Transfer (IAT) process should you be appointed. This includes a check with the DBS Update Service where registered.
Tier 2 applicants working in healthcare will need to provide a criminal record certificate for them and any dependants from each country they have resided continuously or cumulatively for 12 months or more in the 10 years prior to their application.
