2 substantive non-resident Consultant posts in Neonatology based at Level 3 Neonatal Unit in Lancashire Women and New born Centre (LWNC), Burnley
Applications are invited for 2 substantive non-resident Neonatal Consultant posts based at the Level 3 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Lancashire Women and New born Centre, Burnley, which is part of the Lancashire and S Cumbria Neonatal Network.
The purpose built, state of the art, Lancashire Women and New born Centre at Burnley has been built to BAPM specification. The unit is funded for 14 ITU/HDU cots and 20 Special care cots resulting in a 34 cot Neonatal unit. The unit caters for a birth rate of ~6700 deliveries per year. The NICU at LWNC offers Level 3 care for babies needing ongoing medical intensive care at all gestations, including those born at borderline threshold of viability. The unit provides a full range of specialist neonatal services including all modes of invasive and non-invasive ventilation (volume guarantee, pressure support and HFOV), therapeutic cooling and inhaled nitric oxide. The unit has onsite facilities for Cranial Ultrasound and Neonatal Echocardiography.
The medical Neonatal team is led by 8.5 WTE Consultant Neonatologists - this includes 6.5 WTE non – resident consultants (two of which are these posts) and 2 hybrid consultants who all have various sub-speciality interests. The successful candidate will contribute to a 1 in 8 Consultant rota. The Middle grade team has a full complement of 8 middle grade tier personnel including 4 Specialist Registrars, 1speciality doctor, 1 senior Clinical Fellow post and 2 ANNPs. The first-tier rota has 15 staff and runs as a 2 person rota out of hours. This comprises 8 FY2 Doctors, 1 Paediatric ST trainee, 2 WTE Clinical fellow posts and 4 ANNPs, with 2 further ANNPs in training.
The service is recognised for Higher Specialist training.
