Southmead Hospital, Bristol

North Bristol NHS Trust (NBT) is a progressive and ambitious provider of health services, delivering for a large local population and with specialist regional services for major trauma, neurosciences, vascular centre, urology, plastics and burns, orthopaedics and renal services. With a turnover of £550m and 9,000 staff, our clinical teams have built a strong reputation for exceptional healthcare.

Our acute services moved into a brand new, state of the art, hospital building in May 2014. This new 850 bed facility at the Southmead site offers patients single rooms with en-suite facilities, greatly improving privacy and dignity and reducing the spread of infections.

The successful candidate will join a close working team within the Breast Care Service at NBT on a full-time permanent basis. The Bristol Breast Care Unit was created in 2013 by the amalgamation of all breast care service for the whole of Bristol on one site. It is now one of the biggest units in the serving a population of approximately 500,000 people. Referrals are received from General Practitioners across the BNSSG CCG patch as well as tertiary referrals from other units. The breast unit saw 5394 new patients in 2017 and achieved its 62-day targets consistently. The breast unit moved into a new building, after a £5 Million refurbishment of Beaufort House, in July 2014 which provides a fantastic environment both for patients and staff with almost all facilities our patients need, other than theatres, MRI and CT, all in 1 purpose-built space away from the hustle and bustle of the main hospital.

We are lucky to be able to offer stereocore and wire services, as well as MRI breasts and MRI biopsies and VAB services all on site. We have a modern MDT suite with video conferencing equipment and are very well supported by oncology services from Bristol Haematology Oncology Centre.
