Clinical Advisers – Consultant Physician, Consultant Psychiatrist, General Practitioner
1 day per week
2 year Fixed Term Contract
The Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman (PHSO) investigates complaints that individuals have been treated unfairly or have received poor service from government departments, other public organisations and the NHS in England.
Through our work we have been able to highlight issues and drive improvements that will save lives. We aim to resolve more issues, investigate more cases, improve complaint handling and help public services improve by identifying systemic issues.
Our clinical advisers normally work one day in the office whilst continuing to work in NHS clinical practice so that they are able to bring current clinical knowledge and experience to the office, as well as the organisational context within which services are delivered.
We are keen to accept applications from medical professionals with a broad range of experience in their specialty, enabling the provision of advice on a variety of cases within these areas. Following appointment, new clinical advisers will participate in a short induction programme designed to equip them with the skills, knowledge and information they will need for their new role.
The successful candidates will be based in our Manchester Office whilst remaining in current NHS practice.
If you are currently working in the NHS, have an excellent track record in your specialty, and are interested in supporting the work of the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman’s Office, we would like to hear from you.
