Consultant in Diabetes & Endocrinology
A vacancy has arisen for a full time consultant in Diabetes & Endocrinology/ General Internal Medicine. This new post combines is a replacement post. This will present excellent opportunities for the successful candidate who will join the other 3 consultants & 2 specialist registrars as well as a multi-disciplinary team of diabetes specialist nurses, dietitians and podiatrists working out of the dedicated hospital Diabetes Centre.
The new post holder will be expected to lead the continuing development of our well-established diabetes foot service, working with our consultant podiatrist and her team, and local orthopaedic and vascular surgeons. In addition, the new post holder will have the opportunity to lead and develop either the insulin pump (CSII) service or diabetes antenatal service, as well as a weekly Endocrinology clinic.
The post involves being on the General (internal) Medical on-call rota (1:14), with post-take ward rounds, general medical ward rounds and supervision of the junior doctor team.

This is an exciting time for our staff, following a recent review of healthcare services in Dorset which will see major changes to the way healthcare is provided. As one of the two acute NHS providers in the east of the county, our services will be closely linked to those provided at the Royal ournemouth & Christchurch Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. Applicants must possess a recognised medical degree, MRCP or equivalent and should be on the Specialist Register for both General Internal Medicine and Diabetes & Endocrinology or be within 6 months of obtaining this on the day of the interview.
