Locum Consultant in Paediatric Oncology
Fixed term – 6 months
Applications are invited for a 10 PA Locum Consultant in Paediatric On-cology, based at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foun-dation Trust. The post-holder will share with colleagues the outpatient and ward responsibility for the investigation and treatment of all infants and children with solid tumour malignancy. We are looking for an applicant who has trained as a paediatric oncologist and is experienced with the diagnosis and management of solid tumours. The locum consultant will be part of a team of oncologists specialising in neuroblastoma, Wilms tumour, liver tumours and retinoblastoma.
The successful applicant will be part of a 1 in 4 consultant attending rota for the oncology service. During attending weeks, the locum consultant will provide direct clinical care to ward based patients along with a team of trainee doctors and specialist nurses. The role will also involve participating in the consultant night and weekend on-call oncology rota on a 1 in 4 basis. During non-attending weeks, the locum consultant will under-take a number of outpatient clinics. The significant workload associated with attending weeks will be offset by increased time off in non-attending weeks.
