Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist (Resident on call)

St Helens and Knowsley Acute Hospitals NHS Trust is looking to recruit an enthusiastic and committed individual to work as a Generalist Obstetrician & Gynaecologist with resident on call.
The successful candidates will join a team of 11 other Consultants within the department currently providing General Obstetrics & Gynaecology services, Fetomaternal Medicine, Urogynaecology, Sub fertility, Outpatient hysteroscopy and Gynaecological Oncology. The unit has achieved NPSLA (CNST) 3 status accreditation. The unit is supported by 7 SAS Doctors, 5 Specialty trainees 3+ and 8 Senior House Officers (STr 1&2, GPSTrs + 2 F2). The unit delivers approximately 4000 babies a year in a well-appointed labour ward with 2 dedicated operating theatres. The Obstetric unit is supported by a level 2 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit with a Special Care Baby Unit of 15 cots.
Whiston Hospital is an acute three star hospital within St Helens & Knowsley NHS Trust. The Trust previously achieved a healthcare performance rating of double excellent (excellent for quality of services and excellent for use of resources). With over 1,000 beds providing acute District General Hospital and Regional Speciality Services and serving a population of approximately 340,000. Obstetrics and Gynaecology is a major department within the Trust. The unit has a good provision of inpatient and outpatient facilities for Obstetric and Gynaecological services.
The Trust’s new hospitals in Whiston and St Helens opened in March 2010 and 2008 respectively. Both are part of a significant investment programme to provide world class healthcare facilities to the local community.

Applicants must hold Full registration with the GMC and hold or be within 6 months of attaining CCT / CCST from the date of interview and have completed the appropriate RCOG Advance Training Special Skills Modules (ATSM) or equivalent. The post is for 10PA per week.
The job plan allows the post holder to deliver 4.5 direct clinical PAs each week with 2.0 SPA in addition to Resident on call 1:10 week of nights and 1:10 weekend days. These posts are subject to an enhanced CRB disclosure.
