An opportunity has arisen to recruit an enthusiastic and innovative Consultant with a specialist in Lower limb arthroplasty /Hip Trauma/Skeletal Metastatic Tumour to join the present Orthopaedic team at the Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust. The post has the approval of the Royal College of Surgeons of England.

The Trust provides a comprehensive Trauma and Elective Orthopaedic service within Worcestershire.

The Countywide T&O Directorate has inpatient sites at the Worcestershire Royal Hospital, Alexandra Hospital in Redditch, and Kidderminster Treatment Centre with day-case facilities at Evesham Community Hospital. Our units at the Worcestershire Royal Hospital and the Alexandra Hospital are recognised to receive trauma and have facilities that allow them to offer treatment across a wide range of specialties - in addition to this WRH has Trauma Unit Accreditation. Outpatient clinics are held at all main sites as well as Bromsgrove, Malvern and Evesham.

All elective inpatient surgery occurs in laminar flow theatres and in MRSA free wards used exclusively by the orthopaedic department for elective surgery. Modern MRI and CT scanning facilities are available on site.

There are excellent Education Centres on both main sites, providing state of the art education facilities which are accessible twenty-four hours a day, with well-stocked libraries, and free access to the Internet and Medline.

Our hospitals are in close proximity to the University of Birmingham Medical School, and our Trust is playing an increasingly important role in the training of its students. In addition, the Trust plans to assist the Medical School in the strategic planning and delivery of the medical course. As part of this development, a Sub-Dean has been appointed to the Trust. It is therefore anticipated that you will play a key role in the delivery of the medical students’ training programme in Trauma & Orthopaedics.
