About the post

We are searching for a motivated and enthusiastic Senior Clinical Fellow Emergency Medicine & Emergency Preparedness, Resilience & Response (EPRR). The post is based at Noble’s Hospital which is a modern, bright hospital and like the UK NHS, the Isle of Man Health Service is free at the point of delivery. The post is for a limited term appointment of initially one year, with the possibility of an extension to two years by mutual agreement.

Within this role your time will be split between the Emergency Department and Emergency Preparedness (70% EM; 30% EP). You will be exposed to, and trained in all issues relating to Emergency Preparedness, Resilience and Response (EPRR). There will be opportunity to undertake EPRR training courses both locally and in the UK and encouraged to attend conferences related to EPRR.

It is expected that paralleling this training and personal development that you, together with the Hospital Lead for Emergency Preparedness will be responsible for:

  • Improving the processes of training and education for all hospital staff
  • The design and running of exercises with in the hospital
  • Delivery of regular major incident education
  • Integration of the voluntary sector into the Hospitals Major Incident Plan
  • Ensuring lessons learnt from UK and International major incidents are integrated into Hospital planning and resilience
  • The publishing of relevant reports or experiences of Major incidents or planning for mass gathering events
  • Collaborating with key external partners

This role may be suited to someone who has completed EM training and looking for a post that will broaden their clinical experience, allow them to lead service delivery changes and would like to create a personal portfolio of leadership within the major incident management.

Amongst other requirements, to be successful in this role, you will need to have full registration with the GMC with a licence to practice and completion of ST3 training in Emergency Medicine.

The Terms and Conditions of service are essentially the same as in the United Kingdom with enhancements such as automatic annual incremental pay rises.

  • The Emergency Department currently sees over 31,500 patients per annum
  • Noble's Hospital is part of the Cheshire and Mersey Major Trauma Collaborative as an accredited Trauma Unit
  • Major Trauma has always been a significant part of the workload at the Hospital due to the large numbers of motorsport competitions taking place annually
  • Emergency Preparedness, Resilience and Response (EPRR) team are actively involved not just in its delivery within the department but also the wider hospital and the government as a whole
