Consultant in Paediatriacs
We are looking for a dynamic and motivated Consultant Paediatrician with an interest in cardiology to join our friendly and enthusiastic team at the James Paget University Hospital. The post requires experience in Paediatrics with a specialist interest in cardiology.
We have excellent facilities already including high end 4D echocardiogram enabled machine, existing fast links to send images to tertiary centres remotely, video conferencing facility, links with our tertiary centre are robust and you will feel well supported by our visiting cardiologist from GOSH who does an outreach clinic once every month.
We would encourage ongoing CPD and honorary contract with GOSH and will encourage close networking with other PECS in the region.
The appointee will be expected to hold CCT in General Paediatrics (or within 6 months of attaining); we are especially keen to find someone who would have had at least a year of cardiology experience in a tertiary centre.
While on call you will be covering the children’s ward and a level 1 SCBU, this post involves 1:8 non-residential on call from home, 1:8 Hot/service weeks (clinic will be cancelled during this week), and 3 Weekly General Paediatric or Cardiology outpatient clinics.

The James Paget University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (JPUH) provides medical services for a population of approximately 230,000 living in South East Norfolk and North East Suffolk, plus a large number of visitors to the coast and Broads National Park during the summer months. In addition, it provides approximately a third of the secondary care teaching for the new UEA Medical School. The Trust has foundation status and is highly regarded within the region.
The JPUH have been given a further overall rating of “Good,” following the latest Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspection which took place in August 2018. This places us in the top 30% of acute trusts in the country.
