We are seeking to recruit a Peri CCT Laparoscopic Colorectal Fellow to the Colorectal Surgical Unit at Royal Shrewsbury Hospital to commence in April 2019 for 6 months. This term may be extended by a further 6 months by mutual agreement.

This post is a Royal College of Surgeons of England approved Senior Clinical Fellowship in General Surgery.

Work will be matched to the competencies of the successful candidate but operative skills in laparoscopic colorectal surgery and independent colonoscopy (BSG JAG accredited) would be of benefit.  This post is for those either holding or approaching CCT (Certificate of Completion of Training) or equivalent and competencies in the index colorectal procedures and commensurate level of clinical practice are essential.

This appointment to our high volume specialist unit offers an excellent opportunity for candidates to gain further experience in standard and advanced laparoscopic colorectal surgery. This includes colorectal cancer including laparoscopic TME, inflammatory bowel disease and other benign colorectal conditions including diverticular disease and endometriosis. In addition there will be exposure to a well established TEMS service, accredited pelvic floor service and standard open resections. There will be opportunities to further develop colonoscopy skills in our BSG JAG accredited endoscopy training unit.

Full GMC Registration and FRCS part 3 essential.

There will be an on-call commitment to the general surgery rota of 1:12 based at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.
