Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist

The Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department is looking for an enthusiastic and enterprising Substantive Consultant (10 PAs) to join a progressive and forward thinking department of consultants, each with their own special interest. We have well-developed services in Oncology, Minimal access surgery, Infertility, Colposcopy & Out-patient hysteroscopy, High risk Obstetrics and Urogynaecology. The successful candidate will be expected to help with the provision of antenatal care with focus on Maternal Medicine. The post will also involve covering Labour Ward and Emergency Gynaecology, Outpatient Gynaecology clinics and Theatre lists. Skills in Minimal access surgery are also desirable. The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to develop a special interest which should complement the needs of the department.

The Hospital obtained Foundation Trust status in November 2008.The Trust provides a committed service to a local population of approximately 320,000, with 613 beds. The delivery rate at KGH is approximately 3,500 per annum. A modern, well-equipped NNU includes facilities for 4 intensive care cots. Obstetrics and Gynaecology has a 12-bedded gynaecology ward and a 33 bed antenatal and postnatal ward.

All applicants must be on the General Medical Council Register and be within six months of obtaining CCT in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the time of the interview date. This post will be subject to an enhanced Criminal Records Bureau Disclosure check.

The provisional start date for this post is subject to the period of notice required to current employer.
