Consultant Cardiologist (interest in interventional & structural)
Applications are invited for the post of Consultant Cardiologist with an interest in Interventional Cardiology and TAVI based at University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff.
This appointment will complement the present team of 10 full-time Clinical Cardiologists dedicated to the delivery of tertiary cardiac services of the highest standard to a population of 1.3 million people.
The department presently offers a full range of interventional cardiology procedures including Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI) and PFO closure. The successful applicant will have undergone TAVI / structural cardiology training and will form an integral part of the existing structural cardiology team. In addition, the post will support the acute coronary syndrome work stream and the primary PCI rota. The appointment would also be encouraged to develop locally other emerging structural interventions such as VSD closure.
Commitment to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching is expected of all Consultants in the department and ample opportunities for research are offered through strong links with the Wales Heart Research Institute which is based at University Hospital of Wales.
Although this post is full-time, consideration will be given to applicants who require flexible working arrangements.
Applicants should either be on the Specialist Register or be a Specialist Registrar within six months of their expected date of receipt of a CCT / CESR(CP) at the time of interview.
